The organization had organized Science and Technology Awareness among school students and
farmers in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
With the support of the National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC),
Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, a Science & Technology
Awareness Campaign was successfully organized across all five blocks of Lalitpur
district, Uttar Pradesh, during 2023.
The programme covered Bar, Birdha, Jakhora, Mahroni, and Talbehat blocks, engaging
around 1,000 students (200 students in each block) through interactive workshops,
lectures, competitions, and science exhibitions.
Key activities included science awareness sessions, drawing, quiz, debate,
poster-making, essay writing, role play competitions, and science model exhibitions.
Outstanding participants were recognized and awarded prizes.
The campaign helped students develop scientific temperament, improve their understanding
of emerging science and technology topics, and interact with experienced resource
persons. Participants also gained practical knowledge on health, food adulteration, food
preservation, and scientific solutions to everyday challenges, promoting informed and
responsible decision-making in their communities.
"Bringing Knowledge to Your Doorstep through Science on Wheels" is an innovative science
outreach initiative designed to make science accessible, engaging, and
experiential for
students in underserved regions of West Bengal. The project is being implemented across
the
districts of Jalpaiguri, Koch Bihar, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, and South 24 Parganas,
with a
special focus on Scheduled Caste-dominated and Other Backward Areas where access to
practical science education is limited.
The Mobile Science Bus visits middle, secondary, and senior secondary schools, providing
hands-on learning opportunities through interactive demonstrations, scientific
experiments, and exposure to modern technologies. Students explore working models such
as the Laser Security System, Fire Alarm System, LPG Leakage Detector, Tesla Coil,
Drone, Solar-Powered Systems, Automatic Water Level Indicator, Artificial Intelligence
Module, Disaster Management Model, and many more.
The programme also includes sessions on mathematics in daily life, renewable energy,
environmental conservation, disaster preparedness, and emerging technologies such as
Artificial Intelligence and sensor-based automation. Through inquiry-based learning,
students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and develop a scientific
temperament.
Feedback received from students and teachers has been overwhelmingly positive.
Participants appreciated the opportunity to experience science beyond textbooks,
interact with functional models, and gain practical knowledge relevant to everyday life.
The project has successfully sparked curiosity, enhanced scientific understanding, and
inspired students to explore careers and opportunities in science and technology.

"Sajit Molla and Mahafujur Rahaman are students of class 9. They are students of Kumarpukur High School (HS) located at North 24 Parganas. They were so amazed about the science on wheels exhibition that Sajit mentioned – “I will never forget the Science on wheels bus visit. As I stepped inside a model caught my eye- an LPG gas leakage detector with an automatic exhaust system. The demonstrator explained how it works. I was amazed. It reminded me of a scary incident at my aunt’s house last year where a gas cylinder leaked. If they had this detector, it could have prevented a disaster. I told my family about it and we are getting one installed at home now. My mom hugged me and said, “You are our little scientist,’ That felt awesome! The science on wheels bus opened my eyes to how science save lives."
"During this exhibition, I witnessed a heartwarming moment. A young student stood transfixed in front of the fire alarm system on the bus. As the workings were explained, he suddenly looked up at me with wide eyes and asked, “Ma’am, will this save my family if there’s a fire”? I reassured him, “Absolutely, it alerts everyone and helps to keep them safe.” His relief was palpable. I shared with him even when school faced such drill once and everyone was safe. He beamed with pride. “Yiyee! It actually works”. The science on wheels initiative brings knowledge but moments like these remind me of its true impact."
“The science on wheels bus came to our village and I am still buzzing, My neighbour’s son showed me the solar powered street light model. He said that this lights our streets at night without electricity. Our village gets dark after sunset and this could change everything. I remembered nights we would stumble in the dark fetching water. The demonstrator explained how it powers with sunlight, saves money and needs no wires. Even I told our panchayat chief, “ We need this for our main street”! The kids were thrilled to learn. My grand daughter even said , “ Now stars won’t twinkle alone at night “. The bus actually brought hope in the lives of the villagers.”
